Biography

Casee started singing almost as soon as she started walking, sometime in the mid to late 70's. When she was seven, her parents got her her first microphone for Christmas, and she used to make "radio shows" for her Dad to listen to at work.

When she hit her teens, she sang whenever she thought no-one was listening, with the exception of some school shows and choir. Then her Mum took her to a karaoke night at the local pub, and she was hooked on performing from that point on. At the same time, roughly, one of her Mum's friends lent her a piano that they were unable to move into their new house, and she started to teach herself to play and compose pieces, one of which was used at the National Theatre during the summer of her A levels. She desperately wanted to take things further.

Common sense prevailed, though, and she took sensible A-levels (sciences and maths, yum!), and then did a degree in Zoology, which she never used again, except for as a basis to go on and run a tuition agency for several years. She couldn't bear to be away from performing for long though and went and did a performing arts summer course at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. She continued doing amateur dramatics where she could, but hadn't really found a niche vocally yet. She ended up teaching English as a Second Language for a while, as well as tutoring, and that was the way of it until she moved back to London.

Suddenly she came to her senses, bought a Korg, and started relearning how to play. She picked up singing work at a local pub in East London which led to regular cabaret work around East London, and although she didn't remain living in that area, it gave her a real boost towards doing this as a career.

Several moves brought her to York (via the Lake District) where she is now settled and building a repertoire of her own music, written and recorded at home. She recently took part in February Album Writing Month and successfully wrote 14 songs in 28 days, has had radio play on BBC Radio York, and successfully placed as a double semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest 2007 and followed that up with triple semi-finalist success in the UK Songwriting Contest 2008. She also performed at York Pride in August 2008 and is a regular at the folk night at the Black Swan in York.
