Mary

The geese have gone south now
There's snow on the ground
Mary picks up her brother
It's time to go home
Her red shoes are dancing
Without making a sound
And soon she'll be leaving
On her own search for the sun

And she knows that the world will start changing
All the things that she knew will twist and turn away
And she knows that the world needs rearranging
Her old skin doesn't fit so it's time to turn the page

The sky's getting dark now
And the storm's rolling in
Mary faces the darkness
She can't outrun the rain
so she's lighting her candles
And she's checking the doors
when the knocker comes calling
She'll be miles away

And she knows that the world will start changing
All the things that she knew will twist and turn away
And she knows that the world needs rearranging
Her old skin doesn't fit so it's time to turn the page

The geese have gone south now
There's snow on the ground
